New Yorker Cartoons
A selection of cartoons submitted to the New Yorker
Writer, full-time doodler
It’s been a lifelong dream to get a cartoon published in the New Yorker. But while I have lots of ideas, I have little in the way of drawing skills, so I teamed up with my art school-trained mother and brother to form “Savage and sons.” (‘Savage’ being my Mom’s maiden name.) We’ve had a few rejections, but fingers crossed we’ll sell one in soon. Until then, it’s back to the drawing board.
The Process
I’ll usually come up with the idea and then do a rough mock up/mood board in PowerPoint to visualize it. (PowerPoint is like a really crappy photoshop.) Then I’ll work with Mom and brother to refine the idea.
